Swiss Rolls

Here is the first entry in my kitchenside adventures! ... And already a day late, so we're off to a great start, aren't we?

Sunday the 27th was Advent Sunday, and the first candle was lit, it was time for a family "fika" (a concept so utterly Swedish, it has its own Wikipedia-entry, to explain it to you crazy foreginers) - and not content with eating only store-bought ginger biscuits with my glögg, I decided to go ahead and bake Swiss Rolls.

Because why take the easy way out? It's not like there's a million things that could go wrong.

Right?

Welcome!

Greetings, one and all, and welcome to my brand new baking blog.

I've recently taken up the habit of baking every Sunday - as a way to relax, learn more about baking (which is WAY harder than simply cooking), spend some time away from my computer and my countless other projects....

And because baked goods are delicious, of course.

This is very much a hobby, and I am by now means the best baker in the world - mistakes will be made, cupcakes and cookies will turn into disasters, things will look hideous (but hopefully still be edible) and so on and so forth. With a bit of luck, I'll get better as I go along and - hopefully - anyone reading this will enjoy the ride. Or find some inspiration. Or laugh at my inevitable screw-ups.

Since I will be baking every Sunday, I'll also be updating every Sunday. As it is, I've got a backlog of baking to upload (to give myself a bit of breathing room). The photos I've taken aren't always the best, but hopefully that will improve as I go along as well.

As I am Swedish, measurements will be given in metric - there are enough handy converters online that this ought not to be a problem. Also, you'll be seeing some Swedish recipes here as we go along, and I'll do my best to explain what they're all about.

Happy reading!
